SUMMARY:Women's Leadership Council - Women in Media - April 10 2026
DESCRIPTION:Tina Traster of the Rockland Business Journal will be our guest speaker at the next Women’s Leadership Council\, April 10 at 8:30am. \nFrom Tina:  Founding a local media business is not for the faint of heart\, and there are certainly additional challenges when you are a woman entrepreneur. Let me take you back eight years ago when I founded RCBJ\, and tell you how this hyper-local news site has become one of the most important and trusted components in Rockland’s media landscape. In a nutshell\, we understand what was missing in the market\, persevere daily to build a media organization\, and recognize our place in a country where democracy is fraying and attacks on the First Amendment are more threatening than ever. \nJoin us for this exciting discussion about Women in Media at \nThe Sparkle Bookstore\n642 Main St.\nSparkill\, NY 10976

SUMMARY:Women's Leadership Council - Women in Farming - June 26 2026
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Cropsey Community Farm\n220 S Little Tor Road\nNew City\, NY 10956\nFriday\, June 26\, 2026\n8:30a to 10:00a \nPresentation Overview: Sue Ferreri – The Business Rehabber\nIn this presentation\, Sue Ferreri will share her perspective as a “business rehabber”—someone who helps organizations strengthen their foundation\, stabilize operations\, and position themselves for long-term growth. \nDrawing from real leadership experience building and rebuilding organizations\, Sue will focus on three essential pillars of a successful business: \n1. Financials / The Books – why accurate financial reporting\, cash flow visibility\, and understanding key business metrics are critical for making strategic decisions and driving profitability. \n2. Policies & Operational Structure – how strong systems\, governance\, and clear internal processes reduce risk\, create accountability\, and allow businesses to scale efficiently. \n3. People – the importance of building the right team\, creating a culture of ownership\, and aligning talent with vision to drive execution and long-term success. \nSue will also speak to how these three pillars work together: financial clarity informs decision-making\, policies create structure\, and people bring strategy to life. When aligned\, they create operational health\, stronger sales performance\, sustainable growth\, and a business positioned to scale with confidence. \nThis presentation is geared toward business leaders and professionals looking at growth through both a strategic and operational lens\, focusing on how strong foundations create measurable results.

SUMMARY:Sonic Branding - Use Music and Other Audio to Build Your Business! - 01/28/2026
DESCRIPTION:Jingles are almost a cliche of marketing\, and even though the largest brands in the world are still using them\, many businesses don’t appreciate how valuable sound can be for branding. Beyond jingles\, there are audio signatures\, sound effects\, playlists\, hold music\, and so much more. \nHow many of us can close our eyes and hear the PC Richard & Sons whistle\, sing McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ it” or immediately recognize the “Da-Dum” when the Netflix app loads? \nWe are going to be joined by local musician and branding expert Joe Chris who is going to walk us through the various ways a business can grow its brand through sound. He will show us how businesses of any size and industry can take advantage of these tools. \n8:30-8:45: Arrival\, coffee and introductions.\n8:45-9:15: Sonic Branding Presentation by Joe Chris\n9:15-9:30: Q&A\n9:30-10:00: Other Council Business. \n——\nJoe Chris is a film composer from Nanuet\, NY. He graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music\, majoring in Film Scoring with a minor in Interactive Music for Video Games. While at Berklee\, he studied closely with Emmy nominated composers such as Mason Daring and Sheldon Mirowitz\, as well as Grammy award winning composer Claudio Ragazzi. His love of music is only rivaled by his love of film. He strongly believes in the power of film as an art form and as well as the shared cinematic experience. As a composer\, his greatest goal is to write music that not only emotionally connects the viewer to the movie\, but also connects the viewers together and ultimately heightens the theater going experience. His fascination with technology leads him to strive to remain cutting edge\, often using the most advanced resources available to try create a unique & identifiable sonic footprint for each and every project. \nHe has worked on the teams for Hollywood composers such as Trevor Morris (Vikings: Valhalla\, Big Sky) Trey Toy (Castlevania: Nocturne)\, Andrew Morgan Smith (Average Joe) & more. Joe Chris enjoys being part of a team\, but also works well solo. His passion projects include scoring silent films with the intention of the music being performed live to picture\, as well as exploring the intersection of music and food with his “taste the music” series. \nWe will meet in the Badami Board Room in the Granito Center\nat Dominican University
